  1. Great guy. Really funny and a good union man. I didn’t get to work with him as much as I would have like. He help make work so enjoyable. He knew a lot and that made it easier . People who knew him, and I, will have great stories and feeling for and of John.

  2. The first time I met BIG RED was at a union meeting in 1974, I was talking with Allen Jones Jr., Leonard Weeter and Brian McDonald. BIG RED walks up to us and he said arnt you joe sito, and I said yes and he said I’m going to whoop your ass, you see it was election year at the hall and I had said some remarks about his candidate at the bar the previous union meeting night that he did not like, Allen spoke up and said leave the kid alone and he did. BIG RED and I worked a lot around each other and became friends until he retired in the 1990’s and he moved to New York to be close to his son.

  3. I worked with “Red, or as he called himself when he got older, Old Roan”, He was the job steward on the last job I worked at the Carson city sanitation plant. He was a funny guy and great to be around. He will certainly be missed.
